Created by Dr. David Matsumoto and Dr. Hyi Sung Hwang, Humintell’s SubX Subtle Expression Training courses were originally funded by and developed for US government agencies.

Subtle expressions are often very difficult to see because they’re of low intensity. Recent research suggests that the ability to detect subtle expressions may be especially important for detecting deception, or for just learning to see the signs of concealed emotions.

SubX™  is our most advanced, comprehensive subtle expression training. This online training will teach you how to recognize subtle expressions – facial expressions of emotion of lower intensity that can occur as fast as 1/16th of a second. SubX™ will train you to detect subtle expressions that occur on the face at 1/10 of a second.

  1. Over the last year, I’ve bought and gone through most of the online training Humintell has to offer. I did this training a couple months after the MiX training and found this one very challenging and educational, definitely a step up from MiX. Highly recommend this as a follow up for individuals looking for advanced training material.

  2. I’ve gone through almost all of Humintell’s courses and this one is one of the most challenging. As a psychologist, learning how to detect subtle movements in people’s faces has been a game changer in my personal and professional life.

  3. In a world where people are increasingly aware that their lies can be detected and where dangerous behavior is sometimes well hidden, SubX is clearly the training you need if you work with potentially lying or dangerous people.
I have been recommending the SubX to all my clients since 2011, when I discovered it. You will learn to recognize subtle expressions, i.e. appearing briefly or sometimes only on one side of the face, sometimes only the eyes are visible, or the emotion is so restrained that it is barely visible. And yet, after this training, you will be able to see it in real time, that is to say in real life, and even in video!
In a word, I love SubX, it’s my favorite training!

  4. This training is for the advanced observer, so take your time and complete the other training products before embarking on this one. This takes a very keen and skilled eye to detect expressions on the fastest setting! For those who are ready to really sharpen up on their existing abilities, this is the training for you!

  5. This product along with the SUBx additional is an excellent way to keep your skills in the ability to detect emotion and deception up to par. As one who was originally trained in FACs over a decade ago, I can attest it along with some non-verbal behavior is an excellent way to determine your subjects intent.
