Description

Kid’s MiX is perfect for individuals who have already taken MiX Enhanced and are interested in supplemental training on detecting microexpressions in children.

This online training will teach you how to recognize microexpressions in children– facial expressions of emotion that occur when someone tries to conceal or repress how they are feeling.

Research has shown that kids as young as 4 years of age can mask and manage their emotional expressions and this training can help you spot them.

Kid’s MiX consists of:

  • 14 instructional videos that teach you the development of emotion in children, cross-cultural considerations in emotion expression, importance and difficulties of reading emotions in children.
  • A post test to test your ability to read microexpressions in kids. Receive over 80% with the images flashing at you at a speed of 1/5 of a second or less and receive a certificate of completion. You can take the post test as many times as you’d like.

In addition, Kid’s MiX allows the user to set the speed of their training.

Our online training was developed to be accessed with Internet Explorer Version 7.0 (or higher) or Firefox Version 3.0 (or higher). While usage may be fine with other browsers, we cannot guarantee compatibility.

Our training can help you:

  • Understand the development and emergence of emotions and expressions in children

  1. “Tiny Clues, Big Insights: The Power of Microexpression in Child Guidance”

If you can recognize a child’s emotions, you will be better able to understand them and guide them toward appropriate behavior in society. For example, let’s say you, as an adult, need to scold a child for misbehaving—perhaps they played a prank or told a lie. What kind of facial reaction might the child show? Anger? Fear? Shame? By asking why the child felt a certain way, you can gain deeper insight into their emotional world.

You may also be able to respond appropriately depending on the emotion expressed. If the child shows anger, you might gently explain, “If you can’t admit what you did was wrong, you may repeat it again.” If they show fear, you could apologize for scaring them and convey that you were strict because you care about them. If they show shame (a facial expression not covered in this training), you might be able to gauge the level of their remorse.

The challenge is that children don’t always express emotions in clear, obvious ways. Sometimes their feelings are suppressed and only appear as microexpressions. If you can’t read these microexpressions, you might miss the opportunity to listen to the child’s emotions or respond appropriately.

For anyone who wishes to connect with children empathically and support their growth, we highly recommend Kid’s MiX.
